Stack Signal vs. Volume profile
Volume profile is a map of where volume already traded. Stack Signal is what the order book is doing now. They answer different questions; they are not substitutes.
Stack Signal
The live book
Every stack, pull, and aggressive execution, decomposed as it happens.
- Updates on every market event
- Support/resistance as ±3σ of Total Flow, not of past volume
- Deep-book warning when top of book fights depth
- States when the feed is stale or the band is still seeding
Volume profile
Where volume already was
A profile is a histogram of the session (or a range) so far. It does not see a pull that has not traded yet.
- Shows accepted volume at price
- Lagging by construction — it fills after trades occur
- No decomposition of resting vs aggressive flow
- Useful context; not a live book signal
