Pulling & Stacking Indicator privacy policy (Sierra Chart and MotiveWave)

Effective date: 2026-11-02

This policy explains what the Pulling & Stacking Indicator sends over the internet, what it keeps on your computer, and what it does not collect. It covers the Sierra Chart and MotiveWave versions of the indicator that you activate with a Licence Key from a subscription bought on stacksignal.com.

Buying a subscription, your account on stacksignal.com, payments and emails are covered by the website privacy policy at https://stacksignal.com/privacy/.

1. Who we are

The indicator is made by Intracor Intelligence Inc., a company based in Ontario, Canada, under the Stack Signal brand ("we", "us"). Intracor Intelligence Inc. is responsible (the "controller") for the personal information described here. Our Privacy Officer can be reached at contact@stacksignal.com.

2. The short version

  • To use the indicator, it confirms your Licence Key with our licensing provider. For that it sends your Licence Key and an identifier for your computer. That is the personal information this policy is about.
  • It downloads notices and settings from our server. Those downloads send nothing about you beyond what any internet connection shows.
  • Your market data, orders, positions, trading account and passwords stay on your computer. The indicator does not send them to us or to anyone else.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and the indicator shows no third-party advertising.

3. What the indicator sends, and to whom

Your licence (to our licensing provider)

The indicator works only with an active Licence Key. To activate, confirm and release it, the indicator connects to our licensing provider. It sends:

  • Your Licence Key, the key you entered in the indicator's settings.
  • A computer identifier. This is a code the indicator makes from the identifier your operating system already gives your computer (on Windows, the computer's "MachineGuid"; on a Mac, the hardware UUID; on Linux, the machine ID). The code is made in a way that cannot be turned back into that identifier. If the operating system identifier cannot be read, the indicator uses a random code it creates once and keeps on your computer instead. It is the same code in every Stack Signal indicator on that computer, so one licence counts as one computer.
  • A label for the activation, made of the platform name and the first six characters of the computer identifier (for example "Sierra Chart (3fa91c)"), so that you can tell your activations apart.
  • The reference of the activation (when you release the licence), and the name of the indicator and of the platform (Sierra Chart or MotiveWave) in the technical details of the request.

The indicator sends this when you activate the licence, when it starts, about once a day while it runs, more often while it cannot get an answer, and when you release the licence from this computer.

Like any server you connect to, the licensing provider also receives your computer's IP address as part of the connection.

Our licensing provider already holds the details of your subscription (from your purchase, see the website privacy policy). It links the activation to that subscription so that the licence works on one computer at a time. Your account on stacksignal.com shows how many computers the licence is active on.

Notices and settings (from our server)

The indicator downloads files from our server, config.stacksignal.com, which is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS):

  • Sierra Chart: when it starts, a small settings file (for example the current version of the Terms and Conditions and update notices); the text of the Terms and Conditions when you need to accept a new version; and, once per session after you have accepted the terms, the list of messages we publish for users (for example release news).
  • MotiveWave: once per session after you have accepted the terms, the list of messages we publish for users. The MotiveWave version carries its Terms and Conditions inside the indicator and does not download them.

These are plain downloads. They send nothing about you, your licence or your trading. As with any website, AWS receives your IP address and the technical details of the request to deliver the file.

Links

If you click a link in the indicator (for example in a message or in the help), it opens in your web browser. The website privacy policy then applies.

4. What the indicator keeps on your computer

The indicator keeps a few small files on your computer. It does not send them to us. The main ones are in the folder StackSignal\PullingAndStacking in your user's local application data (on Windows, %LOCALAPPDATA%\StackSignal\PullingAndStacking; on a Mac, MotiveWave uses ~/Library/Application Support/StackSignal/PullingAndStacking). Other Stack Signal indicators on the same computer share this folder.

File What it holds
pns_licence.json Your Licence Key, the activation reference, the computer identifier, and when the licence was last confirmed
pns_machine_fallback.txt Only if your operating system's identifier could not be read: the random code used instead
pns_terms_accepted.txt The version number of the Terms and Conditions you accepted
pns_messages_seen.txt Which published messages you have already closed, so they are not shown again

Your display settings are kept as well: the Sierra Chart console settings in the same folder (pns_console_settings_sierra.xml), the MotiveWave console settings in .stacksignal in your home folder, and each chart's indicator settings where the platform keeps its own chart settings. Status messages appear in the platform's own message log.

You can delete these files at any time. If you delete the licence file, you will need to enter your Licence Key again. If you delete the terms file, the indicator asks you to accept the terms again.

5. What the indicator does not collect

The indicator reads the market data your platform gives it, works it out on your computer and draws the result. It does not send us or anyone else:

  • your market data, order book or trades;
  • your orders, positions, account numbers or balances;
  • your broker, data feed or platform user names and passwords;
  • your charts, workspaces or other files.

The indicator shows no third-party advertising and contains no third-party tracking code. We may use it to show you our own notices, such as news about updates and about Stack Signal products.

6. Why we use this information (lawful bases)

Purpose Information Lawful basis (GDPR / UK GDPR)
Activate and confirm your licence, one computer at a time Licence Key, computer identifier, activation label and reference, IP address Contract (providing the subscription you bought)
Deliver the terms, notices and messages IP address and request details handled by AWS Legitimate interests (keeping users informed and the indicator up to date)

Under Canadian law (PIPEDA), we collect, use and disclose personal information with your knowledge and consent, and only for the purposes above.

7. Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only with service providers who process it for us:

Provider What they do for us Where
Our licensing provider Licence keys, activations and licence confirmation Canada and the United States
Stripe Payments and subscription billing; we share your email address with Stripe United States and other countries
Amazon Web Services Hosting of config.stacksignal.com (S3, CloudFront) United States (us-east-1); CloudFront delivers from locations worldwide

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or prevent fraud, or as part of a sale or merger of our business, in which case we will tell you.

8. International transfers

We are in Canada, and our providers store information in the United States and elsewhere. Information held in another country is subject to that country's laws and may be accessible to its courts and authorities. For transfers from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the transfer safeguards our providers offer, such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

9. How long we keep it

Information How long
Licence and activation records, including released activations For the life of your subscription, then seven years
Files on your computer Until you delete them or uninstall the indicator

When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

10. Your choices and rights

  • Release a computer: use Release This Computer (Sierra Chart) or Release (MotiveWave) in the indicator's settings, or Release computer in your account on stacksignal.com.
  • Delete the local files: see section 4.
  • Stop all of it: remove the indicator from your charts or uninstall it. The indicator needs its licence connection to work, so it cannot be used without sending the licence information in section 3.

Wherever you live, you can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy, to correct it, to delete it (unless we must keep it), or to stop using it for a purpose you object to. Depending on where you live (for example Canada, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California), you may have further rights; the website privacy policy lists them. To make a request, email contact@stacksignal.com. We may need to confirm your identity, for example with your Licence Key or the email address you bought with. We will answer within 30 days, or tell you if we need longer as the law allows.

Complaints. Please contact us first so we can try to fix the problem. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca), or to your data protection authority if you are in the European Economic Area, or the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) in the United Kingdom.

11. How we protect it

The indicator connects to the licensing provider and to our server only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No system is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the relevant regulator as the law requires.

12. Children

The indicator is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

13. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we will post the new version at https://stacksignal.com/privacy/indicator/ and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will also tell subscribers by email before it takes effect.

Risk disclosure. Futures and forex trading contains substantial risk and is not for every investor. An investor could potentially lose all or more than the initial investment. Risk capital is money that can be lost without jeopardizing one's financial security or lifestyle. Only risk capital should be used for trading and only those with sufficient risk capital should consider trading. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. The possibility of profit is not equal to the possibility of loss: losses can be larger than any gains, and you can lose more than you invest.

The Pulling & Stacking Indicator is an analytical tool. It does not provide investment advice or trade recommendations, and nothing it displays is a signal to buy or sell.

Hypothetical performance disclosure. Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown; in fact, there are frequently sharp differences between hypothetical performance results and the actual results subsequently achieved by any particular trading program. One of the limitations of hypothetical performance results is that they are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk of actual trading. For example, the ability to withstand losses or to adhere to a particular trading program in spite of trading losses are material points which can also adversely affect actual trading results. There are numerous other factors related to the markets in general or to the implementation of any specific trading program which cannot be fully accounted for in the preparation of hypothetical performance results and all which can adversely affect trading results.

Chart images. The chart images on this site show the indicator's display on market data, to explain what it draws. They are not trading results or trade recommendations, and the risk and hypothetical performance disclosures above apply to them. We publish no trading performance.

Virtual currencies. Some chart images show cryptocurrency instruments. View CFTC advisories, as they contain more information on the risks associated with trading virtual currencies.

Trademarks. Stack Signal™ and Pulling & Stacking™ are trademarks of Stack Signal. Bookmap, MotiveWave and Sierra Chart are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. Stack Signal is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by those owners.
