For MotiveWave

The order book, event by event, on MotiveWave.

The Pulling & Stacking Indicator is a MotiveWave study. It decomposes every resting order stacked or pulled, and every aggressive execution, into one normalized signal, drawn in its own panel under the price chart.

What it adds to MotiveWave

Flow under the price

Total Flow, Passive Flow and Aggressive Flow update on every order book change and every trade, with no smoothing and no lagging average. Arrows on the price chart mark the moments the flow crosses its band.

Buy and sell lines

Switch to Buy / Sell mode to plot buy-side and sell-side flow as separate lines, so one side going vertical while the other flatlines is visible instead of netted away.

The console

The Pulling & Stacking Console opens in a window of its own, with one tile per instrument, so you can follow several charts in one place.

Install

Install in short

Download the MotiveWave zip from your Stack Signal account and unzip it. In MotiveWave choose Study > All Studies, click Import, then Add, select PullingAndStackingIndicator.jar and click Import. Add it to a chart from Study > Stack Signal > Pulling & Stacking Indicator, accept the Terms and Conditions, then enter your licence key in the indicator settings.

Requirements

  • MotiveWave 7.1 or later.
  • A data connection with Level 2 market depth (the order book) and trades for the instrument. Level 1 is not enough.
  • An internet connection while the indicator runs, to confirm the licence (see the indicator privacy policy).
  • One licence key works on one computer at a time.

Replay

Live data only: MotiveWave replay is not supported. The indicator measures the live order book from the moment you add it, and it does not fill in the history already on the chart.

Risk disclosure. Futures and forex trading contains substantial risk and is not for every investor. An investor could potentially lose all or more than the initial investment. Risk capital is money that can be lost without jeopardizing one's financial security or lifestyle. Only risk capital should be used for trading and only those with sufficient risk capital should consider trading. Past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results. The possibility of profit is not equal to the possibility of loss: losses can be larger than any gains, and you can lose more than you invest.

The Pulling & Stacking Indicator is an analytical tool. It does not provide investment advice or trade recommendations, and nothing it displays is a signal to buy or sell.

Hypothetical performance disclosure. Hypothetical performance results have many inherent limitations, some of which are described below. No representation is being made that any account will or is likely to achieve profits or losses similar to those shown; in fact, there are frequently sharp differences between hypothetical performance results and the actual results subsequently achieved by any particular trading program. One of the limitations of hypothetical performance results is that they are generally prepared with the benefit of hindsight. In addition, hypothetical trading does not involve financial risk, and no hypothetical trading record can completely account for the impact of financial risk of actual trading. For example, the ability to withstand losses or to adhere to a particular trading program in spite of trading losses are material points which can also adversely affect actual trading results. There are numerous other factors related to the markets in general or to the implementation of any specific trading program which cannot be fully accounted for in the preparation of hypothetical performance results and all which can adversely affect trading results.

Chart images. The chart images on this site show the indicator's display on market data, to explain what it draws. They are not trading results or trade recommendations, and the risk and hypothetical performance disclosures above apply to them. We publish no trading performance.

Virtual currencies. Some chart images show cryptocurrency instruments. View CFTC advisories, as they contain more information on the risks associated with trading virtual currencies.
